Frequently Asked Questions
1. Are there any requirements in order to be apart of the Program?
Yes, since we are funded by the Department of Education, students must be a U.S. Citizen/Resident or be in the process of obtaining Residency.
Students must have a desire to go to college and have at least a 2.0 GPA. Students from 9th-12th grade are welcome to apply.
Be enrolled in one of our participating schools: James. A Garfield HS, Huntington Park HS, Roosevelt HS, ELARA at Esteban Torres HS, HAAT at Esteban Torres HS, Montebello HS, Bell Gardens HS, Bell HS, Wilson HS, or Lincoln HS.
Although the Program is meant for 1st generation and low income students, it is not necessary for applicants to be 1st gen./low income in order to particpate.
2. What services do you offer? Are your events mandatory?
All that our Program offers is completely free and participants will never be charged for any event or activity we do.
We offer a variety of services to ensure our students are ready for college: 1-on-1 Academic Advisement, Assistance with College Applications, Exposure to STEM Careers, College Campus Visits, and Educational and Cultural Field Trips.
Our events and activities are not mandatory. We ask students to meet with their Advisor at least once a semester.
3. I am interested in joining, how do I apply?
Pick up application at the school site with the Educational Advisor or apply using our online application.

About Us
TELACU Education Foundation Talent Search Program (the “Program”) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the TRiO programs. These programs are designed to serve students with an interest to go to college, whose parents did not finish college in the United States or who come from low-income families. The Talent Search Program accepts students in grades 9-12.TELACU Education Foundation Talent Search Program is committed to improve the potential of each of its participants to help them finish high school successfully, enroll in a higher education institution, including community colleges, state universities, public, and private.
Our Goal
Our primary goal at TELACU Education Foundation Talent Search Program is to expose our students to educational and professional opportunities. We want our students to grow academically and expand their understanding about the different college options, financial aid, and careers that exist before and after obtaining a degree. We have a team of trained personnel that helps participants achieve their college dreams.
